Day 1: Arrive Chicago Arrive in fabulous Chicago and transfer independently to your hotel. In the evening, meet your fellow riders at a welcome dinner in one of the city’s finest hotels. (D)
Day 2: Chicago – Springfield (330km/ 205 miles) Pick up your bike and begin the ultimate road trip. As you set out on Route 66 en route to Springfield, you’ll see old-time diners and gas stations. (B)
Day 3: Springfield – St. Louis (186km/ 116 miles) Enjoy the short ride into the ‘Gateway to the West’ and travel over the Chain of Rocks Bridge, the original bridge where Route 66 crossed the Mississippi River. (B)
Day 4: St. Louis – Joplin (536km/ 335 miles) Ride through the rolling Missiouri hills, stop at the World’s Largest Rocking Chair in Fanning and wind your way through the twisting roads of Devil’s Elbow to Joplin. (B)
Day 5: Joplin – Oklahoma City (408km/ 255 miles) Head into Oklahoma and stop for lunch in a Tulsa diner. Ride through El Reno, over the mile-long bridge near Bridport and into Oklahoma City. (B)
Day 6: Oklahoma City – Amarillo (426km/ 266 miles) Travel along some of the oldest sections of Oklahoma’s Route 66 and a section of the Chisholm Trail. Stop at the Route 66 Museum in Clinton before continuing into Texas. Dinner this evening will be at ‘The Big Texan Steakhouse’. (B)
Days 7 & 8: Amarillo – Santa Fe (485km/ 303 miles) Pass Cadillac Ranch and up into the high plains of Santa Fe in central New Mexico. Santa Fe – one of America’s oldest and most beautiful cities – will be your base for the next two nights. Day 8 is at leisure. (B*) Day 7 only.
Day 9: Santa Fe – Gallup (434km/ 271 miles) Head south via Albuquerque to the famous Route 66 town of Gallup. (B)
Day 10: Gallup – Grand Canyon (453km/ 283 miles) It’s a very scenic ride through the Petrified National Forest, then stop in Holbrook and Winslow before spending the night one mile from the Grand Canyon South Rim. (2020 departures include a free helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.) (B)
Day 11: Grand Canyon – Laughlin (410km/ 256 miles) Enjoy free time at the Grand Canyon then it’s back on Route 66 via Seligman, Peach Springs and Hackberry to Kingman. (B)
Day 12: Laughlin – Las Vegas (206km/ 129 miles) Travel through the Old West Ghost Town of Oatman and over the famous Hoover Dam to Las Vegas. (B)
Day 13: Las Vegas – Victorville (451km/ 282 miles) Ride through the dramatic scenery of the Mojave Desert to Victorville, California. (B)
Days 14 & 15: Victorville – Los Angeles (198km/ 124 miles) Ride the final stretch of Route 66 to Santa Monica Pier and mark your memorable trip with a photo at the ‘End of the Trail’ sign before a Farewell Dinner. Your tour ends on Day 15 with an independent transfer to the airport. (BD*)? Day 14 only.
